The residue was purified by flash chromatograph on silica gel with Hexanes and EtOAc to afford the desired product. 1H NMR (CDCl3): 5 8.18 (IH, s), 4.40 (IH, m), 4.22 (2H, m), 3.96 (3H, s), 2.82 (2H, m), 2.12 (2H, m), 1.94 (2H, m), 1.41 (9H, s).

The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the residue was diluted with water (200 mL) and extracted with DCM (3 chi 80 mL). The combined organic layers were dried over Na2S04, filtered and concentrated. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (70percent ethyl acetate in hexanes) to afford 5-chloro-3-(3,5-dimethyl-lH-l,2,4-triazol-l-yl)pyridazine (23-2) as a white solid. 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDC13) delta 9.11 (d, 1H, J= 2.1 Hz), 8.20 (d, 1H, J= 2.1 Hz), 2.96 (s, 3H), 2.43 (s, 3H).
