Trituration with ether gave 1-hydroxy-3(1-trityl-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)prop-2-yne (12.20 g). Recrystallisation from chloroform gave material m.p. 211 C. NMR (CDCl3): delta 4.45(2H,s), 7.1-7.3(15H,m), 7.95(1H,s).
