In this work, (Z)-N-benzoyl-N ‘-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)carbamimidothioic acid and its Mn(II), Co(II), Cu(II) and Cd(II) complexes were introduced for the first time. This carbonyl thiourea ligand was prepared by the reaction of 1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-amine with benzoyl isothiocyanate. The structural elucidation of these compounds was performed using elemental analysis and spectral and magnetic measurements. Octahedral structures of all complexes, except Cd(II) complex with a tetrahedral geometry, were confirmed by applying DFT structural optimization. The thermal decomposition behaviour of metal complexes of carbonyl thiourea ligand is discussed. The calculation of kinetic parameters for prepared complexes (E-a, A, Delta H*, Delta S* and Delta G*) of all thermal degradation stages has been evaluated using two comparable approaches. Antimicrobial and ABTS-antioxidant studies indicated potent activity of Cd(II) complex compared with the other investigated compounds. The cytotoxic activity of the prepared compounds was investigated in vitro. The results indicated potent activity of Mn(II) complex against both HePG2 (liver carcinoma) and MCF-7 (breast carcinoma) cancer cells.

Developing highly efficient heterogeneous catalysts for cycloaddition of CO2 and epoxides to produce cyclic carbonates is promising but challenging. In this work, a novel three-dimensional metal organic framework (MOF) with cylinder pore systems and unsaturated Zn sites has been demonstrated as potent candidate in CO2 fixation at mild and solvent-free conditions. The Zn(atz)(bdc)(0.5), where atz = aminotriazole and H(2)bdc = terephthalic, exhibits microporous nature that can regulate the catalytic interaction of active centers and substrates. The structure stability has been systematically investigated and proven to be sufficient for practical application. Furthermore, the cooperative effects of porosity, CO2 binding affinity, activation centers, and synergism with co-catalyst have been deeply investigated. Moreover, high propylene epoxide conversion (97%) and selectivity (> 99%) have been achieved at mild conditions (60 degrees C and 1 MPa) with excellent cycle stability. Owing to the well-defined pore system, an obvious substrates selectivity has been clearly observed. A possible catalytic mechanism has been proposed and verified by DFT calculations. Furthermore, the prepared Zn-MOF can also be used as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst for the reaction of epoxides with alcohols to produce beta-alkoxy alcohol. [GRAPHICS] .

Phenacylbromide derivatives constitute a multilateral group of precursors for the synthesis of numerous heterocycles of organic compounds. Briefly, 5-(2-bromo-acetyl)-substituted-thiophene derivative has been used as a synthon for synthesis of new thiophene-containing compounds through the reaction with nucleophilic nitrogen compounds and thioamides. The suggested structures of the newly synthesized thiophene compounds were confirmed and assured with different spectroscopic tools and with CHN elemental analysis. Additionally, the antimicrobial activity of these thiophene compounds was recorded to investigate their potency against various types of bacteria and fungi. Results showed that these compounds exhibit significant inhibitory activity against the growth of tested bacterial and fungal strains and that some derivatives were more potent than the employed reference drugs.

Using a set of physicochemical (ellipsometry and contact angle measurements), electrochemical (electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and polarization measurements), and corrosion (periodic moisture condensation and salt fog tests) methods, the properties of adsorption films formed on copper by the chamber method from vapors of benzotriazol (BTA), 1H-1,2,4-triazole, tolyltriazole (TTA), 5-chloro-1,2,3-benzotriazole (CBTA), 3-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazole, and 4-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazole at a temperature of 100 degrees C are studied. It is shown that 1-h chamber treatment of copper with vapors of these compounds leads to the formation of nanoscale hydrophobic adsorption films on it, which inhibits the thermal growth of oxides, but stabilizes the passive state of the metal and increases its corrosion resistance. Among these different triazole compounds tested as chamber corrosion inhibitors, BTA and its substituted derivatives are distinguished. After a 1-h chamber treatment of copper, the protective aftereffect of the adsorption films of triazole derivatives grows symbatically with their saturated vapor pressure at the chamber treatment temperature, i.e., in the following increasing order: CBTA < TTA < BTA. This may indicate that the equilibrium adsorption films do not have time to form at 100 degrees C on the metal within this time period. After a prolonged (24 h or more) chamber treatment of copper with vapors of substituted benzotriazoles, equilibrium adsorption films of inhibitors are formed on it. In this case, the influence of the chamber inhibitor properties on their protective aftereffect alternates. Under such conditions, the least volatile and most hydrophobic substituted benzotriazole, i.e., CBTA, provide the best metal protection. In current study, a new DABCO based tetra cationic ionic liquid, formulated as [C-4(H-DABCO)(2)][HSO4](4) is easily prepared and characterized using FT-IR, H-1 NMR,C-13 NMR, TGA, and DTG analysis, and also pH-metric titration method. In continue, the efficiency of the prepared catalyst in the acceleration of the synthesis of 2H-indazolo[2,1-b]phthalazine-trione and [1,2,4]triazoloquinazolinone derivatives, is investigated. Simple experimental procedure, using available and low-cost starting materials for the preparation of the catalyst, reusability of the catalyst, isolation of products without using chromatographic methods, short reaction times, high isolated yields, and solvent-free conditions are the most important features of the present method. Dormancy is one of the least understood phenomena in plant biology; however, bud/corm dormancy is an important economic trait in agricultural/horticultural breeding. In this study, we isolated an ABA biosynthesis gene, GhNCED, from the transcriptome database of corm dormancy release (CDR), and characterized its negative role in regulating CDR. To understand transcriptional regulation of GhNCED, yeast one-hybrid screening was conducted and GhTCP19 was identified and shown to regulate GhNCED expression directly. An in planta assay showed that GhTCP19 negatively regulates GhNCED expression. GhTCP19 is dramatically induced by exogenous cytokinins (CKs) and is induced during CDR. Silencing of GhTCP19 in dormant cormels delayed CDR, resulting in higher expression of GhNCED and ABA levels. Meanwhile, endogenous CK biosynthesis and signaling were inhibited in GhTCP19-silenced cormels. Taken together, our results reveal that GhTCP19 is a positive regulator of the CDR process by repressing expression of an ABA biosynthesis gene (GhNCED), promoting CK biosynthesis (GhIPT) and signal transduction (GhARR) as well as inducing cyclin genes. This study expands our knowledge on CDR which is mediated by TCP family members.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) periodically releases in vitro data across a variety of targets, including the estrogen receptor (ER). In 2015, the EPA used these data to construct mathematical models of ER agonist and antagonist pathways to prioritize chemicals for endocrine disruption testing. However, mathematical models require in vitro data prior to predicting estrogenic activity, but machine learning methods are capable of prospective prediction from the molecular structure alone. The current study describes the generation and evaluation of Bayesian machine learning models grouped by the EPA’s ER agonist pathway model using multiple data types with proprietary software, Assay Central. External predictions with three test sets of in vitro and in vivo reference chemicals with agonist activity classifications were compared to previous mathematical model publications. Training data sets were subjected to additional machine learning algorithms and compared with rank normalized scores of internal five-fold cross-validation statistics. External predictions were found to be comparable or superior to previous studies published by the EPA. When assessing six additional algorithms for the training data sets, Assay Central performed similarly at a reduced computational cost. This study demonstrates that machine learning can prioritize chemicals for future in vitro and in vivo testing of ER agonism.

In this work, the coordination-based energy sacrificial bonds have been constructed in the interphase between lignin and polyolefin elastomer to prepare high performance lignin-based thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs). The strength and toughness of lignin-based TPEs can be adjusted by choosing different nitrogen heterocyclic compounds as reactive assistants and Fe3+ or Zr2+ as metal coordination centers. It was demonstrated that 3-Amino-1,2,4-triazole with three nitrogen atoms in the heterocydic ring and one nitrogen branch chain could form the most efficient coordination bond system and generate the best mechanical performance. The system with ferric iron as coordination center exhibited better enhancement effect than divalent zinc. By adjusting the nitrogen-containing reactive additives or metal salts as coordination centers, the mechanical performance of the lignin-based TPE can be regulated, which provides a method for making green bio-composites with good strength and toughness, and also promotes the high value utilization of lignin in polymer materials. This work contributes to the growing interest in predictions linked with energetic salts. A reliable method to accurately compute the heat of formation of triazole-based salts was investigated. Calculations were based on Born-Haber energy cycles: gas-phase enthalpy of ions and lattice enthalpy were calculated separately. Ten triazole-based salts were synthesized and fully characterized. Their heat of combustion was measured by bomb calorimeter. Gas-phase heat of formation of cations and anions were computed at four different levels of theory: B3LYP 6-31G(d,p), CBS-4M, CBS-QB3, and G4. Ionic volumes were calculated at the B3LYP 6-31G(d,p) level with and without corrections. Lattice enthalpy estimations, based on calculated ionic volumes, were performed with the help of Jenkins and Gutowski methods. Combinations of the obtained results (gas-phase enthalpy of ions and lattice enthalpy) were used in the Born-Haber approach to predict solid phase enthalpy of formation of studied energetic salts. Direct comparison with experimental measurements enabled the identification of the most reliable path for energetic salt standard enthalpy of formation prediction.

Of 28 pesticides that produced mammary tumors, EPA’s risk assessment acknowledges those tumors for nine and dismisses the remaining cases. For five pesticides that alter mammary gland development, the implications for lactation and cancer risk are not assessed. Many of the mammary-active pesticides activate pathways related to endocrine disruption: altering steroid synthesis in H295R cells, activating nuclear receptors, or affecting xenobiotic metabolizing enzymes. Clearer guidelines based on breast cancer biology would strengthen assessment of mammary gland effects, including sensitive histology and hormone measures. Potential cancer risks from several common pesticides should be re-evaluated, including: malathion, triclopyr, atrazine, propylene oxide, and 3-iodo-2-propynyl butylcarbamate (IPBC).
