A novel pyridinium salt derivative, 2,3,4,5,6-pentaphenyl-1-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)pyridinium perchlorate (1) has been designed and synthesized by using pyrylium perchlorate and 3-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazole as ingredients, which can be exploited for the binding and specific sensing of anion via hydrogen bonds. Compound 1 exhibits intense blue emission in solution with maximum emission at 469 nm with a red shift relative to that (426 nm) of solid state. The luminescence intensity of 1 could be selectively and sensitivity quenched with acetate ion and fluorine ion among various anions including F-, Cl-, Br-, I-, AcO- and NO3-. Furthermore, the possible detection mechanism was investigated. This work could contribute a credible potential sensing application of 1,2,4-triazolyl substituted pentaphenylpyridinium salts towards the specific anions in biological and environmental concerns. The use of additive-manufactured components in medical applications, specifically medical devices (e.g., orthopedic casts), has increased in recent years. Such devices may be fabricated at the point of care using consumer-grade additive manufacturing. Limited studies have been conducted to evaluate the extractable substances of these devices. Chemical characterization followed by toxicological risk assessment is one means of evaluating safety of devices. This study was designed to determine the extractables profile of additive-manufactured materials according to filament grade and post-processing method. Feedstocks for additive manufacturing were tested as filament and manufactured casts, while the cast from consumer-grade filament (CGF) was post-processed. Samples were extracted using three solvents of varying polarities. Extracts were analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) techniques. In GC/MS analysis, isopropanol extracts generated fewer compound identifications for USP Class VI filament (USPF)-based casts (3) compared with the respective filament (17) while hexane generated the most compound identifications for the finished cast manufactured from CGF. CGF was found to have the highest number of nonvolatile extractables for isopropanol (15) and hexane (34) by positive ion LC/MS. Additionally, CGF produced more non-polar extractables in hexane than the USPF. A known polymer byproduct and potential genotoxicant, styrene acrylonitrile (SAN) trimer, was one of the compounds identified in both GC/MS and LC/MS at quantities ranging from 19 to 270 mu g g(-1). Overall these results suggested that the extractables profile was affected by the filament material, printing procedure, and post-processing method.

This article is focused on the preparation and characterization of functional nanosilica incorporated dental resins with better mechanical, cytotoxicity, sorption, and solubility properties. Silica nanoparticles were synthesized via Stober method and were functionalized with 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole. Dental nanocomposites were produced by embedding the functionalized nanosilica into bisphenol-A-glycidyl methacrylate/triethylene glycol dimethacrylate matrix to form B1-B6 series. This was achieved by mechanical mixing of the monomer (50:50 wt%), filler (10-60 wt%), initiator combination (CQ/EDMAB:O. 1 :0.4 wt%) and then followed by LED light curing (wavelength: 450-500 nm, power density:1000 mW cm(-2)) for 60 s. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis techniques were used for characterization of the materials. Cytotoxicity tests were performed to evaluate cell viability and mechanical tests were done to check mechanical strength and stability of the materials. The mean sorption and solubility values of the materials were measured by making a series of experiments on different composite formulations.

In the title molecule, C13H16N4O3, the mean planes of the phenyl and triazole rings are nearly perpendicular to one another as a result of the intramolecular C-H center dot center dot center dot O and C-H center dot center dot center dot pi(ring) interactions. In the crystal, layers parallel to (101) are generated by O-H center dot center dot center dot N, N-H center dot center dot center dot O and N-H center dot center dot center dot N hydrogen bonds. The layers are connected by inversion-related pairs of C-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds. The experimental molecular structure is close to the gas-phase geometryoptimized structure calculated by DFT methods. Hirshfeld surface analysis indicates that the most important interaction involving hydrogen in the title compound is the H center dot center dot center dot H contact. The contribution of the H center dot center dot center dot O, H center dot center dot center dot N, and H center dot center dot center dot H contacts are 13.6, 16.1, and 54.6%, respectively.

N-doped carbon nanopipe-arrayed mesoporous carbon (N-CMK-5) with double-pore system, large surface area (992 m(2)/g), and high nitrogen amount (5.2 at.%) was synthesized by a simplified template route. In this route, mesoporous silica was directly used instead of using time-consuming aluminosilicate as a template and the carbonization process occurred in a nitrogen atmosphere instead of a vacuum. Furthermore, CMK-3, N-doped CMK-3, and CMK-5 ordered mesopomus carbons (OMCs) were compared with the as-prepared N-doped CMK-5 (N-CMK-5) to investigate the effect of microstructure on the electrochemical activity of OMCs. N-CMK-5 exhibited higher electrochemical activity than the other OMCs because it has more exposed defective sites and nitrogen active species. The developed N-CMK-5-based electrochemical sensor showed good practical application for the electrochemical detection of pesticide amitrole in real water sample. This work contributes a simplified route to synthesize tubular N-CMK-5 carbon and provides valuable information on the design of high-performance carbon electrode materials.

Three-component reaction of 3-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazole or 5-amino-2H-1,2,3-triazole derivatives, acetaldehyde, and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds (acetylacetone or -keto esters) in water under microwave irradiation leads to regioselective formation of 4,7-dihydro[1,2,4]-triazolo- and 4,7-dihydro[1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines. Deleterious mutations in Breast Cancer 1 (BRCA1) are associated with an increased risk of breast and ovarian cancer. Mutations in the tandem BRCA1 C-terminal (tBRCT) protein domain disrupt critical protein interactions required for the faithful repair of DNA through homologous recombination, which contributes to oncogenesis. Our studies have identified RICTOR, PRR5, and SIN1 subunits of the mammalian target of rapamycin complex 2 (mTORC2) as interacting partners with the tBRCT domain of BRCA1 leading to the disruption of the mTORC2 complex. However, the interplay between mTORC2 signaling and BRCA1 function in the DNA damage response (DDR) remains to be determined. In this study, we used protein interaction assays to determine the binary interactions between the tBRCT domain and mTORC2 subunits, evaluated the impact of mTOR inhibition on the transcriptional function of the tBRCT, evaluated the impact of mTOR signaling on BRCA1 recruitment to DNA damage-induced foci and determined the breast cancer cell line response to mTOR inhibition dependent upon BRCA1 expression and mutation. This study determined that PRR5, RICTOR, and SIN1 could each independently interact with the BRCA1 tBRCT. Inhibition of mTORC1, but not mTORC1/2, increases BRCA1 transcriptional activation activity. Treatment with pan-mTOR inhibitor PP242 diminishes DNA damage-induced gamma H2AX and BRCA1 foci formation. Breast cancer cells lacking expression of functional BRCA1 are more sensitive to mTOR inhibitors. These data suggest that mTOR signaling is required for BRCA1 response to DNA damage and breast cancer cells lacking BRCA1 are more sensitive to pan-mTOR inhibition. This work suggests chemotherapeutic strategies using mTOR inhibitors could be tailored for patients that lack functional BRCA1.

We report in this work the synthesis, crystal structures analyses, and nonlinear-optical (NLO) properties of three Schiff bases with halogens and triazole moieties: (E)-1-(4-bromophenyl)-N-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-3yl)methanimine L1, (E)-1-(4-bromophenyl)-N-(4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)methanimine L2, and (E)-1-(4chlorophenyl)-N-(4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)methanimine L3. The three molecules are built on the basis of the same backbone formed by two aromatic rings (phenyl and triazole) linked by imine bridge. The two first compounds L1 and L2 contain tautomers of the Schiff base, where a phenyl ring is substituted by a bromine atom. The third one, L3, is similar to L2 but contains a chlorine atom instead of bromine. In crystals formed by these three Schiff bases the three dimensional networks are formed by supramolecular interactions such as hydrogen bonds, C-X…pi and X…X (X = Cl or Br) contacts. Complementary Hirshfeld surface analyses were carried out to investigate and quantify the contributions of the different intermolecular interactions within the supramolecular assemblies. These analyses reveal that the main contributions in the studied compounds are provided by the H center dot center dot center dot H and N center dot center dot center dot H interactions that represent-53% (for L1),-49% (for L2) and-50% (for L3) of the total contributions to the Hirshfeld surface. The nonlinear optical properties are investigated by nonlinear diffuse femtosecond-pulse reflectometry and are compared with those of the reference material LiNbO3, in particular regarding the temporal evolution.
