To a solution of [1,2,4] Triazol-1-yl-acetonitrile (1.5 grams, 13.9 mmol) in ethanol were added sodium carbonate (4.4 grams, 41.7 mmol) and hydroxylamine hydrochloride (3.86 grams, 55.5 mmol).
