To a solution of formamidine from Step 3 (250mg, 0.73mM) in acetic acid (2ml) was added the 4-triazolylaniline (117mg, 0.73mM). The reaction was heated to 125C for2hrs. The mixture was cooled down and 15ml of 2N NaOH was added. The product crashed out and was isolated by filtration.
