Purification by silica gel chromatography (10-50percent ethyl acetate in hexanes gradient) yielded ethyl l-(2-fluorobenzyl)-5-methyl-lH-l,2,4-triazole-3-carboxylate (58percent) and ethyl 1 -(2-fluorobenzyl)-3-methyl- 1H- 1 ,2,4-triazole-5-carboxylate (23percent)
