This yields a mixture of the two 1,2,4-triazol-1-yl- and 1,2,4-triazol-4-yl-substituted benzaldehyde, which can be separated, after digesting with hexane, by means of chromatography on silica gel (mobile solvent: hexane/ethyl acetate 1:1, ethyl acetate and methylene chloride/5% methanol). p-(1,2,4-Triazol-1-yl)benzaldehyde: HPLC20-100: tret=8.50. 1H NMR (DMSO-D6; 200 MHz): 10.04/s (1H); 9.47/s (1H); 8.31/s (1H); 8.12 and 8.09/in each case d, J=10 (2*2H). p-(1,2,4-Triazol-4-yl)benzaldehyde: HPLC20-100: tret=5.96. 1H NMR (DMSO-D6; 200 MHz): 10.05/s (1H); 9.27/s (1H); 8.31/s (1H); 8.09 and 7.98/in each case d, J=9 (2*2H).
