The crude material was absorbed onto silica and purified by column chromatography (Si02, 100% DCM, then 98:2 DCM:MeOH)20 to give 6-bromo-2-methyl-[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine (2.22g, 21%, mlz: 215.1 [M+H]+) as an off-white solid.
